Searching for a Possible New Level of Structure of Matter at TeV Energy Colliders

The aim of the project is to provide high level research on the new level of structure of matter (preons), which could provide solution for problems which aren’t resolved by the Standard Model (SM), in our country.

Whereas Standard Model (SM) of electromagnetic, weak and strong interactions well describes results of thousands experiments, it does not answer a lot of fundamental questions. Problems unexplained by the SM can be listed as follows: masses and mixings of fundamental fermions, violation of left-right symmetry, number of fermion families, dark matter carriers etc. Inflation of fundamental particles and free parameters indicates that the Standard Model is manifestation of more fundamental theory. In this content a number of approaches, such as preon models, supersymmetry, extra dimensions, have been developed. Preon models which predict new level of structure of matter seems to be more realistic keeping in mind historical development of our knowledge on fundamentals of matter. In the framework of proposed project new (pre-)preonic model will be developed. Observability of new particles and interactions, predicted by preonic models, at TeV energy colliders (LHC – Large Hadron Collider, CLIC – Compact Linear Collider, LHeC – Large Hadron electron Collider, etc.) will be studied.

Group Theory and Quantum Field Theory will be used as theoretical approach. For analysis of production of new particles at TeV energy colliders CompHEP, CalcHEP, MadGraph, Pyhtia simulation programs will be used. In addition, produced particles will be passes through Delphes and PGS detector simulation program and behavior of these particles in the detector will be examined.

The main goals of the project are: development of new (pre-)preonic model, identification of colliders wich are more suitable for investigation of new particles and new interactions, predicted by preonic models, depending on their types. The inclusion of obtained results into research programmes of the LHC and new colliders, planned to be established, will be proposed. In this project a phd student and three master students will be trained. In case of discover of the new level of structure of matter, It's scientific, technological and socio-economic effects will be comparable most likely with the results of Rutherford experiment that form the basis of the high technology of last century.
